We have all experienced the snail paced traffic, bumper to bumper and worst of all gridlock at these malls. It’s all caused by cars entering and exiting the Mall compound and its parking buildings and lots. Imagine all the wasted money, the fuel being consumed, the wasted time, the occupants of the car just sitting there, and the pollution being caused. Imagine grumpy and stressed occupants just waiting and waiting for some sign of traffic movement. Imagine road rage. BUT you can also try to imagine if all the malls in Metro Manila provided bike parking. Imagine families biking together to the mall, most of us live only 1 or 2 kilometers from the nearest mall anyway. Imagine kids smiling as they bike to the mall as opposed to sitting in a car for long periods of time. Imagine a mall without traffic. Imagine a mall that will become easier to get to, imagine a slightly Imagine. Imagine this as a start for people to consider bicycle commuting as a distinct possibility. I would think that at least 45% of all the Metro Manila households would at least have 1 bike in the house. If they just used it to go to the mall once a week and buy whatever it is that they need, and enjoy the convenience of NO TRAFFIC, and EASY PARKING, then wouldn't that be a start! On the business side, wouldn't this translate to more people going to the malls because now it not a hassle to go there. Imagine. “Imagination is more important than intellect.” – Albert Einstein |
